Flight Jacket: Barkhorn

Gerhard Barkhorn was the second most successful fighter pilot in the German Luftwaffe during World War II.
He was credited with 301 victories and other than Erich Hartmann, Barkhorn was the only other fighter ace to ever exceed 300 claimed victories
In 1942, he joined the "Jagdverband 44", led by Adolf Galland, and was one of the first to fly the legendary Messerschmitt Me 262- fighter planes.
After WW2, Barkhorn joined the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) and was squadron leader of the famous "Ghost Squadron ".
This classic jacket was a favorite among the Luftwaffe and was worn regularly especially at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War in the Condor Legion, as well as later in Africa in 1942.

Recieved my Barkhorn jacket and am very pleased. Wasn't sure about the size I ordered because there isn't a good reference as to jacket size on the web site, so I took a chance and ordered XL (I usually wear a size 42 in jackets). I got lucky cause it fits very well. I ordered a Luftwaffe jacket (size L) very similar to the Noble House BF 109 jacket from another site and it fits too tight. I was worried about ordering another leather kacket on-line but the fit and the quality of the jacket is excellent. The jacket probably resembles a lot of motorcycle jackets around these parts but I have to correct those that make comments on it- "no, its a German flight jacket" is my response. Sharp jacket indeed! In an ironic twist, I was surprised to see that my jacket has snaps with the state of Oklahoma Seal. I am from Oklahoma, USA. How did that come to be I wonder?? Thanks.

Hallo,

It is always a gamble to buy clothes on the internet, but this Barkhorn Fliegerjacke is a very satisfying experience. It looks just as good as advertised on the web shop. It is true to size and fits like a glove. The quality of the leather and stitchings etcetera is very good and the combination of quality, true size and price makes it an absolute winner.

One little sore word, though. My jacket lacks shoulder bottons, so you can fit on shoulder pieces. These bottons can be seen on the photos in the web shop. Why are they not on my jacket?

Praise also to Noble House for swift expedition of my order. I ordered the jacket thursday evening, it was shipped monday evening, and I received it in Denmark on wednesday morning.
